Named for the fit.
The UM Apta is a semi-recumbent electric trike named for the Latin aptus: fitted, suited, and the root of adapt. You sit in a supported seat rather than on a saddle, weight carried through your back instead of your wrists, with three wheels removing balance from the equation. A torque-sensing mid-drive follows your effort rather than overriding it, while a dedicated front hub motor reverses the trike at the press of a button. The one-piece formed frame keeps the look uncluttered: one unbroken line, and a clean surface a private-label brand can own.

The specification above is our standard EU configuration for the Apta.
The Apta is built on a configurable platform: motor, battery, controller,
gearing and tyres can be specified to suit your market. Units built for
other markets may differ from the figures shown here.
Stable Before the First Pedal Stroke
The semi-recumbent position puts rider mass low and central; the delta three-wheel layout does the rest. Balance is never something your customer has to manage, and a low step-through means mounting is stepping through, not swinging over. Most test rides convert on this alone.
Manoeuvrable Where Your Customers Actually Ride
A compact turning radius handles car parks and narrow paths, and one-button reverse backs the rider out of a tight spot without dismounting. A rear differential lets the outer wheel travel further through a corner, so low-speed turns stay predictable instead of fighting back through the bars. Torque-sensing assistance follows effort rather than overriding it.
Upgraded Hydraulic Damping, Softer Rebound
Apta’s upgraded hydraulic damper controls rebound rather than simply absorbing the hit, so the seat settles instead of bouncing back. Combined with the 42 cm wide seat base and adjustable backrest, it extends how long a rider stays comfortable — which is what turns a weekend trike into a daily one.
Reverse Under Power, Without Getting Off
Backing a trike out of a bike bay is the moment most riders ask someone for help. Apta carries a dedicated front hub motor for exactly that job: press the button and it reverses under its own power. No dismounting, no shuffling. A small feature that closes a lot of sales.
Safety Specified for Resale, Not Just Certification
Hydraulic discs with 3 mm rotors and a parking function stop with minimal hand force — and hold on a slope. Passivated rotors resist salt and coastal corrosion. Integrated 40 lux lighting with side-visible indicators meets EN 15194 and cuts the warranty calls that follow bolt-on accessories.
A Proven Platform, So Your Costs Stay Predictable
Apta’s one-piece frame sits on the validated geometry, drivetrain and parts chain already proven on UnitedMobility’s Chill platform. You get a new silhouette without a new engineering programme — shared components, known service parts, and unit economics that hold as volume rises.
