Which Cargo E-Bikes Had the Longest Queue at China Cycle 2026? Here’s What Buyers Actually Rode

The Show

China Cycle 2026 ran May 5–8 at Shanghai SNIEC — 160,000 m², 13 halls, buyers from 144 countries. For the cargo e-bike segment, it’s still the most concentrated sourcing event on the calendar. Four days of direct conversation with importers, distributors, and fleet operators beats six months of email.

We were in Hall E7, Booth 1239, Area C.

United Mobility: The Booth

No gimmicks. We stripped the stand back to one thing: maximum bikes on minimum floor space, every one of them rideable. Visitors could sit in, lift, fold, load, and ride within 30 seconds of walking in.

The result: standing room only from opening each morning. Domestic dealers, European importers, fleet operators from Southeast Asia and the Middle East — the mix was wider than any previous show for us.

UM Flex — Modular Long-John | Most Test Ride

modular family ebike um flex

Configuration: Front-load compact long-john | Quick folding cabin | Mid-drive 120 N·m | Low step-through | Adjustable Stem&Seat | Dual loading zones | MIK HD rack | AirTag compatible | Hydraulic disc brakes

One spring latch. Pull to release. Drop to lock. The Flex drew the most sustained attention of the show. The reason buyers kept coming back: one platform, three configurations — passenger, child carrier, delivery — with no tools and no retooling. Importers with mixed retail and fleet customer bases immediately saw the SKU efficiency. Several noted they’d been waiting for a long-john that didn’t lock them into one market segment.

“I can sell this to a family on Tuesday and a courier company on Thursday.” — A European distributor, Day 2.

UM Frontier — Heavy-Duty Commercial Long-John | Fleet Operators’ First Stop

Configuration: Front-load long-john | Reinforced commercial frame | Modular cargo bay (parcel / bulk / toolbox) | 340L Lockable cargo box with half-open lid | High-cycle component spec | Dual-battery system | Fleet maintenance architecture

The Frontier is the Flex’s commercial sibling — built for operators who need a cargo platform that survives 80+ km/day, six days a week. What caught fleet buyers off guard was the modular bay system: swap cargo configurations without buying a new bike. Municipal logistics teams and last-mile operators spent the most time here, running load and handling tests back-to-back.

UM Vita — Semi-Reclined Senior Electric Trike | Quietest Crowd, Longest Conversations

Configuration: Three-wheel electric trike | Reclined ergonomic seating | Low step-over | Soft power delivery | Stable static geometry | Hydraulic disc brakes

The Vita didn’t generate the loudest reactions — it generated the most serious ones. Dealers who work with senior or limited-mobility customers stopped, sat down, and didn’t leave quickly. The reclined seat angle reduces wrist and lumbar load in a way you feel immediately. Several visitors mentioned they’d been looking for exactly this for the 55+ segment and hadn’t found it. That’s a market gap, and the Vita fills it cleanly.

UM Stretch — Foldable Longtail | The One That Surprised Everyone

Configuration: Longtail | Foldable design (full-size → apartment-storable) | Rear modular deck | Child seats / panniers / flatbed | Shimano drivetrain | Hydraulic disc brakes

Nobody expects a longtail to fold. That surprise is exactly what drove traffic. Visitors folded and unfolded it repeatedly — not because they doubted it, but because it’s genuinely satisfying to watch a full cargo bike collapse to elevator dimensions in under 10 seconds. For city retailers in markets where storage is a deal-breaker, the Stretch removes the last objection.

UM Flow — Compact Reverse Trike

Configuration: Inverted delta (2 front wheels, 1 rear) | Compact and lightweight | Low center of gravity | 55 N·m hub motor | 200 kg system load | Reverse function | Boost mode | Turn signals | KENDA tyres

The Flow is the one that makes people stop and look twice before they understand it. Once they ride it — fully loaded, sharp corner — the low-CG geometry does the explaining. Particularly strong interest from last-mile courier operators and urban delivery companies.

UM SE — 4-Child Family Cargo

Configuration: Low step-through front-load | 300 kg total load | 4-child large cargo box with 3-point belts | 250W / 48V | Shimano 7-speed | 50–65 km range

The SE’s cargo box does the selling. Visitors counted the seat belts, sat their kids in (a few literally did), and asked about subsidy eligibility. Strong response from family-focused European dealers and markets with active cargo bike grant programmes.

UM Tiny — Foldable Compact Cargo

Configuration: 36V hub motor | 36V 10Ah battery | Folds 1,510 mm → 777 mm | Modular front platform | 18″ / 20″ puncture-resistant tyres | Front&rear baskets | MIK HD rack | AirTag compatible

The Tiny attracted shared mobility operators and hospitality logistics buyers — anyone who needs cargo capacity without a permanent footprint. Folds into a car boot. Ships dense. Deploys instantly.

What We Took Away

Four new models. Hundreds of test rides. Qualified conversations across every product in the range. The clearest signal from four days on the floor: buyers aren’t looking for more options — they’re looking for the right platform backed by a manufacturer who can deliver, certify, and support it.

That’s the brief we work from.
